Everything is free now. Labels: cd release, shows
"Yo Comprendo" is being printed right now.
Went to Connecticut on Tuesday to look at a studio for future recording. I sang some harmonies on my friend Alex's songs and played a wurlitzer that I fell mostly in love with, now on a search for find one of my own. They sound beautiful and I had never played one before. There was a Baldwin baby grand in the living room, with a few keys out and it reminded me slightly of the piano at the Estate. It was good to be surrounded by trees for a few hours. There's no shower there, but there is a creek.
I keep making long lists of new songs. It's good.
I am learning guitar. Next on my list: banjo. wurlitzer. Possibly accordion. My dad thinks I should learn to play the pedal steel, but I'm not really sure why. I think it's really difficult. Dobro? Tomorrow is Easter and we're making a waffle feast. Mimomas. I'm also switching houses, painting, spring cleaning, and hopefully losing one of my jobs.
Uh, blogs are weird, I do not really know what to write about anymore.
Come to my show! It's at TT the Bears on Tuesday, April 17th. Doors are at 8:30, $7, I play last but you should come for the whole thing, because you just should, because why not, because you love good, honest music.![]()

Restless I walked to the shore and picked a place of peace, found no relief in satin sheets or bedcrumbs of police.
My record is currently lost on a hard drive in Maryland, while the person in posssession of said hard drive is in: Texas. Canada. California, until May or June, formerly known as March. Which sort of the cd release show that I was/am setting up to happen in April (17th or 29th). I'm going to try to make it happen anyway.
Places I want to go in the next twelve months:
- Portland, Maine
- Rockport, Mass
- Custer County, Montana
- across America
- Florence, Italy
- The ranch, Navarro, CA
Did you know there is a Whiskey Springs, CA? I think I'd like to go there too, it's close to the ranch, it looks like there is nothing there, which wouldn't surprise me all that much. I want to exist in nothingness. Lie on the roof of my car and look at stars and hear everything.
Soon.

I heard the ocean has a constant leak.
Thanks to the humble advice of my friend Scott and other folks, I have taught myself the basics of divs and layers, expanded upon my css knowledge, and learned how to write an .xspf file. I don't really know if everything is absolutely functional yet, but it will be one day. The most exciting thing (aside from the fact that looking at this page is what happens when I look out my window. As in: this window is my window. Those telephone poles are my telephone poles. That rain happened outside. Those houses are those colors, and wooden. My brother says: "Those telephone poles look dangerous, are they piled on top of each other?")
I actually figured out to have a functional blog that fits inside my webpage. I think. Anyway, the most exciting part is that you can subscribe to my RSS feed (until recently, it seemed like my blog was the only one in the world that didn't have this, and who knows why or how. Scott complained. I guess it paid off). Okay, I lied.
The most exciting part is on the music page, where you can stream my record. You can even skip the songs you don't like (but don't, okay?). I have a lot of time on my hands these days, so I make actual meals and think about how fulfilling life can be without working all the time, and with making things I care about. Reading books. Listening to This American Life. Simple living is the key to my heart, I guess.
Now I just need horses, and Justin to make me a studio out of a barn (okay, maybe you laugh, but it's going to happen. It's just going to take some time. We're going to be making records out in the country for the rest of our lives). I'm going to find the person to sing harmonies at my side.
In the meantime, I'm going to copy Casey and tell you about songs that I like that I think you should listen to. I don't do this very often, because I've come to the slow realization that I don't really like talking about music. I like singing, dancing (if I am drinking or alone), listening, playing. It's somewhat similar to my aversion to organized religion. It's just something I'd rather think about on my own. Anyway, these are new things that I love.
